About Maria Yanna
Maria Yanna was born in Athens, Greece.
She studied International Relations and History of Art at Tufts University, in Boston, Massachussetts, and obtained her MBA
Degree at ALBA in Athens, Greece.
Maria started her career as an executive in the field of Marketing, working at Kraft Foods in Athens and subsequently at the ATHENS 2004 Organizing Committee for the Olypic Games.
After the end of the Olympic Games, Maria decided to change
field and follow her love for photography so she went back to the United States to study at the International Center of Photography
in New York City.
In 2010 she published a book "Portraits of Prominent Greeks
in the U.S.A." , which portrayes 63 highly successful Greek Americans.
The concept and implementation (photographs/interviews) were
all taken over by Maria.
Ιn 2016 Maria published her second book, "ΔΙΑΔΡΟΜΕΣ" ("THE JOURNEY"). This book portrays 41 cancer survivors and the message that comes across is that cancer is not unbeatable. On the contrary, many cancer survivors admit that post-cancer their life is better than pre-cancer.
The people who were photographed for this publication share their personal stories of strength, determination, hope and faith.
The book also includes texts written exclusively for this purpose by prominent doctors who all specialise in the field of cancer, such as oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, etc.
Maria currently lives and works in Athens.
